Clean Green Neighbourhood

To create a cleaner and more beautiful world, we must begin with our own homes and neighbourhoods. Additionally, planting fruit and vegetable trees can contribute to food security. By maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in our immediate surroundings, we inspire others to do the same.

Amid our global climate crisis, there are few things each of us could do individually to live in a cleaner and nicer world. Planting trees around us and creating Urban Forests/Urban Gardens has multiple environmental, social, and economic benefits to communities.

Clean Green Neighbourhoods are more attractive, increase the safety and walkability of a community, helps reduce rising temperatures and provides food to feed a hungry stomach. In a typical Urban setting, structures such as buildings, roads, and other infrastructure absorb and re-emit the sun’s heat more than natural landscapes such as forests and water bodies. Vehicles, air-conditioning units, buildings, and industrial facilities all emit heat into the urban environment.

Increasing tree and vegetation cover lowers surface and air temperatures by providing shade and cooling. Active localised efforts by individuals or communities can strengthen resilience to Climate Change and help active living and proud neighbourhoods.

What we did

To create a cleaner and more beautiful world, we began with our own homes and neighbourhoods. By maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in our immediate surroundings, we inspire others to do the same. Additionally, planting fruit and vegetable trees can further enhance our environment and contribute to food security. When these trees start yielding, they can satisfy the hunger of any living soul—be it a human, animal, bird, or even a worm. These trees also provide fresh, home-grown produce, reducing the need for store-bought fruits and vegetables and ensuring a supply of nutritious food. They improve air quality, increase green cover, and support biodiversity.

By promoting local food production, we can build more resilient and self-sufficient communities, making a positive impact on both our health and the environment.

In every neighbourhood we have lived in, we have made it a point to plant and protect as many trees, ideally fruit and vegetable trees and plants, as possible. Additionally, planting medicinal plants like tulsi and flowering varieties that attract bees, which helps in propagation, further supports biodiversity and ecological balance. Our collective efforts not only beautify our surroundings but also contribute significantly to the well-being of our planet.

Let’s be the change we want to see, starting right where we live, and reap the benefits of a greener, healthier, and food-secure community.
